Season 2 progress

Last week I detailed my goals for season 2 to achieve the highest ilvl possible completing only solo content aka delves and crafting.

Well with week 1 of season 2 I am proud to report that I have achieved an ilvl of 626 on my main (a blood dk) and have successfully completed and unlocked tier 11 delves.

I have some guaranteed ilvl 646 gear coming on vault day and am working hard to catch up on profession knowledge for both mining and blacksmithing as I have fallen behind.

I was also lucky enough to loot my first hero track gear this week in the form of a trinket as well as a handful of gilded crests.

I am very happy with my progress this week and plan on pushing my ilvl a little further each week.

I have had some good success with delves this season and following more practice will share my tips and tricks on making runs flow smoother.

Where/how will the war within end?

Big spoiler warning here we are going to be discussing the events that take place at the end of the undermined campaign, so if you haven’t completed it yet or don’t want any spoilers, look away now.

Ethereals…

So phase thief Azir is currently in possession of the dark heart and xal’atah is not happy about it.

During TWW beta it was datamined there would be a goblin raid connected to patch 11.1 and there would be an ethereal raid connected to patch 11.2.

As we know undermined came true so it is fair to presume that 11.2 will indeed contain an ethereal raid, combine this with the ending of 11.1 (Azir staring into the dark heart).

This has led many to believe that we will be heading to K’aresh (the homeworld or former homeworld of the ethereals). To be honest this would be a safe bet and the most likely scenario. But there is another contender for patch 11.2.

The rootlands was originally thought to be one of TWW zones in the expansion’s early development, but it did not make it to the final release. So many have speculated that it is planned for future content.

While it is possible the rootlands could make an appearance in a smaller patch such as 11.1.7 or 11.2.7, the zone would have quite a few lore implications and deserve more than a smaller patch in my opinion.

The rootlands being the location of 11.2 would be nicely self-contained with TWW original zones and within Azeroth herself, rather than us teleporting off to yet another planet, which seems a bit counterintuitive for an expansion called the war within.

It could also allow for the inclusion of yet another widely speculated allied race in the Harronir which would be a great way to end the expansion.

Also the Harronir have featured prominently in TWW promotional material but have yet to make a significant impact (other than a brief appearance in the campaign and some side quests) on the expansion.

But before you come down on either side there is a third option.

While it is true that an ethereal raid has been datamined this doesn’t necessarily mean K’aresh has.

What if we do indeed get an ethereal raid in patch 11.2 that is set in the rootlands.

Maybe the ethereals invade the mysterious rootlands, possibly to extract nature magic into the heart, and we work with the Harronir to defend the roots of Elun’ahir.

This option would combine the use of the rootlands, unlocking the Harronir as an allied race, finish the expansion within Azeroth and the datamined “ethereal raid”, datamined etheral models and expand from the ending of patch 11.1.
