Season 2 tier sets ranked

This week I wanted to take a break from delving (excuse the pun) into wow systems and history and instead just look at some pretty things and judge them. So here we go….

  1. Priests. Disappointing, priests have been winning the tier set lists for cloth wearers for quite some time now and we all knew it had to end at some point. Generally, it looks uninspiring and the standout element (the helm) is a bit unsightly and out of place. Compared to others on this list the priest struggles to stand out.

    1. Evoker. This class always struggles with tier sets based on their restrictions. Because of evokers link to dragons all of their tier sets have very scally, gold-plated, horn themes and none of them really stand out or appear unique. This set is good though it works for the evoker theme well and if you like dragons you can’t go wrong but it is going to win any prizes for uniqueness.

  1. Warlock. Warlocks have some of the best sets for cloth classes, with a unique look the warlock takes its class fantasy and manages to produce looks that are quintessentially warlock. This look fits the warlock look well, however the shoulder pieces are a little intense (even for a warlock).

  1. Demon hunter. A strong look for the demon hunter, it is very different from their usual sets but still retains elements that make it a demon hunter set. However the set does look a bit stiff and stoic for the more nimble and mobile demon hunter class

  1. Hunter. Initially I wasn’t a big fan of this set, it comes across as quite plain and I’m not keen on the hood. But when you look closer and see the details from the skull belt to the spiked shoes and thick gloves this is a special set, especially for hunters who often don’t get the best sets. This set linked with the dark ranger hero class fills a class fantasy that the hunter has been lacking for some time.

  1. Shaman. We are now getting into the territory where we are splitting hairs on critiques. This shaman set is solid it is serving elemental master and expert spellcaster. Reminiscent of a torghast mob but that is not a bad thing. I would say that without the helm or the shoulder the set is a little plain, but even still shamans should be very happy this season.

  1. Paladin. Fantastic this set is one of the strongest paladin entries in recent times. The lions on the shoulders combined with the feathers are giving larion and steward vibes from Bastion. This may be the first time I can think about shadowlands without feeling sad. Also one of the few sets where the cloak adds itself to the whole look well. The only reason it dosen’t appear higher on the list is because I find it quite predictable but still done very well.

  1. Warrior. This may be my favourite warrior set ever. It is solid and fits the big plate-wearing protector perfectly. The plate works so well for this look. The only downside for me is that it looks a bit simple but then Warriors are quite simple and no-nonsense so it fits the brief well.

  1. Druid. I wanted to place this set higher however the sets that follow are extra special. But I love this set, I may be biased because I love the drust and the take on druid that focuses on death thus spinning the class fantasy on its head. This set uses that theme well. Unfortunately, the shoes let the set down and if your looking for a life-themed druid set you will be severely disappointed.

  1. Monk. Here we are at the most iconic set of the season. Monks have finally gone super saiyan. This set is beautiful and fun and so monk. It fits the monk theme perfectly whilst also giving us something we have never seen before. the dragon head is obviously the stand out here but even looking at the rest of the set the wraps, spikes and belt are also very well done and fit the theme. The only negative is that the head may get old quickly if you are not into big headpieces.

  1. Death knight. Here is your bronze place for the season but there is nothing bronze about this set. It was hard not to place this set higher it is almost perfect. The combination of bone plate, cloth robes and spectral glow is very on theme, this set is in no doubt a death knight set but also provides a thick plate vibe as well. This set dosen’t give us anything new (the reason it dosen’t rank higher) but does death knight better than it has ever been done before.

  1. Rogue. Unique is the word I would use to describe this set. This has never been done before. The undead pirate is not something new to fantasy but never looked as good as this before. A simple look but every element works together and has a very clear mission to provide a skeleton pirate and that is exactly what it does. My favourite thing about this set is that it allows a normally straight-laced class (without any fancy elements or spells) to take on a high-fantasy look. My rogue will be in nothing else for a long time to come.

  1. Mage. Not only my favourite Mage set ever but quite possibly my favourite set ever. The whole look is at its core simply some brown robes but is embellished in a way that makes it like nothing else. The ice covering the set looks like crystallised mana that has formed around the body following magic use, which is why is most prominent around the gloves. The helm is unique and the details on the robes are ornate. Mages typically do very poorly in set looks which makes this set even more special and in my opinion, has awarded it the prime position.
