Is patch 11.1.5 set up to be a flop or not?
So patch 11.1.5 has encountered some problems.
While the patch itself is lining up to be a good one with lots of new content as well as ways to engage with old content.
The problem comes from the rate at which he content is being released.
Not all of the content is being released on day one like most patches.
We are getting the new flames Radiance faction and a leveling buff during the first month of the patch.
While horrific visions revisited are coming a month later.
Then the dastardly duo’s event comes two weeks later and lasts for 6 weeks.
So we are to wait for 6 weeks before all the content of this mini patch becomes available.
While it is a good idea (in theory) to spread the content out in order to avoid content drought or boredom.
When the content is underwhelming the frustration and boredom is intensified instead of relieved.
The Flames Radiance faction provides some cool rewards and the event is another event to partake in, however this is hardly a unique event, just another to add to the ever growing list.
The experience and reputation buff event is a great chance to level some alts and (if you haven’t already) get the origional TWW faction renown up to max.
But if your not interested in alts and have these renowns maxed out already then this wont be very exciting to you.
Even if you are an altaholic (like me) this event isn’t going to be revolutionary.
It appears that the most interesting and unique content for this patch are the events that don’t begin for at least a month after it starts.
The horrific vision revisited won’t be the usual event that we have seen in TWW, It comes with corruption enchants, gear unlocks, difficultly upgrades, mounts, transmog and it takes us away from Khaz Algar and puts us back into a corrupted version of locations we know.
Dastardly duos dosen’t seem to come with many gearing options but does have mount unlocks, a point system and is a unique boss gauntlet.
In testing this content many have reported that both horrific vision and dastardly duos seem complete, so it dosen’t appear that this delay in their release is to give development more time to cook.
While I believe delaying the content of a heavy patch is a wise move, having something to look forward to every month or so seems like a good plan to me rather than being thrown several things to do day one of a patch and then getting bored within a couple of weeks and needing to wait 2 months for something new.
However the Flames’ radience and winds of mysterious fortune arn’t encouraging and so it does feel like we are simply going to be waiting another month to get anything we can stick our teeth into.
If Blizzard had simply rearranged some of the releases here I feel this patch would be better received.
Giving us horrific visions at the start of the patch would mean we had more interesting content to begin with and then the rest of this patch could simply bolster it up and keep us going till patch 11.1.7.
Another interesting point with this patch is the 8-week patch release schedule.
While this schedule is not guaranteed, it does seem to be have been the case all the way through TWW and so is likely to continue.
This would mean we could expect to receive patch 11.1.7 around the 17th of June.
This would be right at the start of the dastardly duo’s event.
While this would not be a problem it is interesting that Patch 11.1.5 seems like a content drought it would appear that Patch 11.1.7 will be rich in things to do.
But what do you think?
Are you excited for the content of patch 11.1.5?
Or do you think this pathc will en dup being a flop?
I need your help…
