2025 the year of World of Warcraft

Forget the year of the snake 2025 is set to be the year of World of Warcraft.

The most common take I have been hearing from players and content creators is that World of Warcraft is experiencing a content high at the moment, with many claiming now is the time to return to World of Warcraft if you have been away.

But why does 2025 look to be so good?

First of all TWW is well underway. With patch 11.1 on the horizon and new systems being introduced like D.R.I.V.E as well as a new raid, dungeon and delves it’s not long before players get fresh content coming their way.

But on top of this, we have Plunderstorm in the meantime to keep us busy as well as the turbulent time ways event for speed levelling alts.

The current 8-week content cycle doesn’t show any signs of slowing down and as long as Blizzard can keep this up, there will always be something to do in World of Warcraft this year.

Blizzard looks to be keeping the hype train going with various reveals throughout the year most notably the next expansion Midnight with more information coming towards the end of the summer.

Blizzard is already teasing us with the much-anticipated feature of player housing coming in the next expansion, any information regarding Midnight is being eagerly awaited.

Blizzard has gotten into a good pace with the 8-week patch cycle but what is even more impressive is the new events that are being spread through the year to give us something to look forward to during those usually boring content lows.

Events such as Plunderstorm and possibly a Legion remix (if we are lucky) go a long way in giving players something to do and be excited about when we would normally be experiencing the slog of trying to stay excited about what’s coming next.

On top of this, the relatively recent inclusion of the trading post is another feature that can keep engagement going. While technically more of a 2024 feature the trading post is still going strong in 2025 and promises to provide us with more rewards and goodies throughout the year.

On the topic of rewards, World of Warcraft has never been better at providing players with things to earn and ways to earn them. With the aforementioned trading post, events, delves and tier sets there have never been more rewards in the game along with ways to earn them that suit multiple different play styles.

This goes to show that the devs are listening. They have said before that they want to respect players’ investment into the game and this is showing in the quantity and quality of what they are providing the player base and for once it doesn’t appear that they are afraid of giving us a lot to earn and achieve.

On top of this, we have some of the best storytelling World of Warcraft has achieved in a long time. With 2025 the groundwork for the world soul saga should begin paying off. As we get through TWW content this year beginning to hand over to Midnight (hopefully early 2026) we should start to see the fruit of Blizzard’s muti-expansion approach to one cohesive story start to pay off.
